1452 - 1519
1452 - Born in Vinci, near Florence, to a notary father and peasant mother
1466 - Enters the workshop of Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence
1472 - Qualifies as a master in the Guild of Saint Luke
1482 - Moves to Milan to serve Ludovico Sforza
1490 - Draws the "Vitruvian Man"
1495 - Begins "The Last Supper" in Milan
1503 - Begins the "Mona Lisa" (La Gioconda)
1506 - Returns to Milan under French rule
1513 - Moves to Rome, works for Pope Leo X
1516 - Invited to France by King Francis I
1519 - Dies at Amboise on May 2nd, aged 67
THE NOTEBOOKS

Leonardo left over 7,000 pages of notes and drawings, written in his distinctive mirror script. His notebooks cover art, science, anatomy, geology, botany, engineering, architecture, and more. They represent one of the most remarkable records of human curiosity ever produced.
