Description

A creeping groundcover spreading by underground rhizomes. Heart-shaped leaves with downy undersides and serrated margins.

Five-petaled blooms spiral open in a Fibonacci pattern, colored copper orange. Blooms when specific stars align.

Habitat

Colonizes disturbed ground, often the first to return after fire.

Traditional Uses

The root makes a mordant dye ranging from grey to silver depending on preparation.

Folklore

Planted on graves to help the departed find peace.
