Description
A succulent storing water in thick, fleshy leaves. Feathery, finely divided leaves resembling green lace.
Five-petaled blooms spiral open in a Fibonacci pattern, colored pearl white. Blooms during thunderstorms.
Habitat
Prefers boggy meadows and the margins of still water.
Traditional Uses
Tea brewed from young leaves was believed to improve memory.
Folklore
Its presence was thought to indicate pure water nearby.
Similar Species
Hybridizes with Commondew.
Conservation
Rare and protected - do not collect without permission.
Field Notes
Best observed in early morning when dew collects on the leaves.
