Description
A tall biennial with a deep taproot and rosette of basal leaves. Foliage consists of deeply lobed palmate leaves with purple venation.
Bell-shaped flowers hang in nodding racemes, colored deep violet. Blooms when specific stars align.
Habitat
Native to nowhere, found everywhere - a cosmopolitan wanderer.
Traditional Uses
The bitter root served as a digestive tonic.
Folklore
Its presence was thought to indicate pure water nearby.
