🔥 Spirits of the Night
Those who walk between the worlds...
On Walpurgis Night, the boundary between our world and the otherworld grows thin. Spirits both benevolent and mischievous walk abroad. The bonfires serve as beacons and barriers, guiding friendly spirits and warding off those with darker intent.
Ghostly riders sweep across the sky, led by ancient gods or spirits of the dead. Those caught outside may be swept away.
A spectral figure in white who appears at crossroads and boundary places on liminal nights.
A giant shadow that appears on mountain mists, surrounded by rings of rainbow light. Your own shadow, magnified and transformed.
The last gasp of winter, a crone figure who must be burned away so spring can fully arrive.
The spirit of vegetation reborn, face wreathed in leaves, representing the return of green growth.
A figure covered entirely in leaves who leads May Day processions, embodying spring's unstoppable vitality.
The maiden aspect of the goddess, crowned with flowers, who brings fertility and new life to the land.
The waxing year personified, growing in strength from Midwinter until his peak at Midsummer.
Nature spirits who emerge on Walpurgis Night to dance in forest clearings and receive offerings.
Elemental spirits of fire, glimpsed in the dancing flames of the bonfires.
Stay near the fire's light. Leave offerings at crossroads. Carry iron or rowan. And if the Wild Hunt passes overhead, press yourself to the earth and do not look up.
