Description

A low-growing perennial forming dense mats in shaded areas. Broad, paddle-shaped leaves with prominent parallel veins.

Flowers are small, star-shaped, blooming in umbels of 12-20, colored pearl white. Blooms at the summer solstice.

Habitat

Requires the specific mycorrhizal networks of old-growth woodland.

Traditional Uses

Pressed flowers preserved in books were exchanged as tokens of affection.

Folklore

Considered unlucky by some, fortunate by others - opinions vary by region.
