Description

A parasitic species drawing nutrients from host trees through haustoria. Heart-shaped leaves with downy undersides and serrated margins.

Flowers are small, star-shaped, blooming in umbels of 12-20, colored ember red. Blooms in the presence of kindness.

Habitat

Requires the specific mycorrhizal networks of old-growth woodland.

Traditional Uses

The root makes a mordant dye ranging from grey to silver depending on preparation.

Children believed it could reveal hidden paths through forests.
