Description
An evergreen with persistent leaves that last multiple seasons. Leaves are translucent and veined with gold, visible when backlit.
Large, solitary blooms open at dusk and close before dawn, colored midnight black. Blooms in the presence of kindness.
Habitat
Native to high alpine screes above the treeline.
Traditional Uses
The sap was used to make a temporary ink that fades over weeks.
Folklore
Planted on graves to help the departed find peace.

May be confused with Rarereed.
Conservation
Locally common but declining in some parts of its range.
