Description
An aquatic plant floating on still water with submerged root systems. Narrow, grass-like leaves emerge in dense tufts from the base.
Large, solitary blooms open at dusk and close before dawn, colored frost blue. Blooms during thunderstorms.
Habitat
Colonizes disturbed ground, often the first to return after fire.
Traditional Uses
The root makes a mordant dye ranging from grey to silver depending on preparation.
