Description
A low-growing perennial forming dense mats in shaded areas. Feathery, finely divided leaves resembling green lace.
Bell-shaped flowers hang in nodding racemes, colored storm grey. Blooms at the summer solstice.
Habitat
Grows in the shadow of libraries and places where books are kept.
Traditional Uses
Stems were woven into wreaths for doorways during festivals.
Folklore
According to old wives, it brings prophetic dreams if gathered properly.
Similar Species
Often mistaken for Ancientrush.
Conservation
Possibly extinct in the wild - surviving only in botanical gardens.
