Description

A low-growing perennial forming dense mats in shaded areas. Feathery, finely divided leaves resembling green lace.

Composite flower heads resemble small moons with ray and disc florets, colored ember red. Blooms when certain birds sing.

Habitat

Found only near standing stones and ancient earthworks.

Traditional Uses

Pressed flowers preserved in books were exchanged as tokens of affection.

Folklore

Its presence was thought to indicate pure water nearby.

May be confused with Crowseed.
