Description

An epiphytic grower attaching to bark and stone without rooting in soil. Feathery, finely divided leaves resembling green lace.

Large, solitary blooms open at dusk and close before dawn, colored luminous gold. Blooms at the summer solstice.

Habitat

Grows exclusively in the cracks of old stone walls and ruins.

Traditional Uses

Pressed flowers preserved in books were exchanged as tokens of affection.

Folklore

Planted on graves to help the departed find peace.

Similar Species

Hybridizes with Shadowvine.

Conservation

Possibly extinct in the wild - surviving only in botanical gardens.
