Description

A parasitic species drawing nutrients from host trees through haustoria. Broad, paddle-shaped leaves with prominent parallel veins.

Large, solitary blooms open at dusk and close before dawn, colored midnight black. Blooms during the new moon.

Habitat

Thrives in coastal dunes and salt-spray zones.

Traditional Uses

The seeds were carried as charms for safe travel.

Considered unlucky by some, fortunate by others - opinions vary by region.
