Description

A low-growing perennial forming dense mats in shaded areas. Leaves are translucent and veined with gold, visible when backlit.

Papery bracts surround insignificant true flowers, colored shadow purple. Blooms only in leap years.

Habitat

Found in ancient forests where the canopy blocks all but dappled light.

Traditional Uses

An infusion was used as a hair rinse for shine and strength.

Folklore

Planted on graves to help the departed find peace.
