Description
A creeping groundcover spreading by underground rhizomes. Needle-like foliage arranged in spirals along the stem.
Bell-shaped flowers hang in nodding racemes, colored ember red. Blooms in the hour before rain.
Habitat
Found in ancient forests where the canopy blocks all but dappled light.
Traditional Uses
The bitter root served as a digestive tonic.
Folklore
Planted on graves to help the departed find peace.

Hybridizes with Sunwhisper.
Conservation
Possibly extinct in the wild - surviving only in botanical gardens.
