Description
A deciduous herb dying back to rootstock each winter. Aromatic leaves release fragrance when crushed between fingers.
Tiny florets cluster in dense spherical heads atop tall stalks, colored honey amber. Blooms when certain birds sing.
Habitat
Grows in the shadow of libraries and places where books are kept.
Traditional Uses
Tea brewed from young leaves was believed to improve memory.
Folklore
Legend says it first grew where a falling star touched earth.
