Description
A shrubby perennial with woody stems and aromatic foliage. Broad, paddle-shaped leaves with prominent parallel veins.
Tubular flowers attract long-tongued pollinators with deep nectaries, colored shadow purple. Blooms at the summer solstice.
Habitat
Native to nowhere, found everywhere - a cosmopolitan wanderer.
Traditional Uses
The root makes a mordant dye ranging from grey to silver depending on preparation.
Folklore
Children believed it could reveal hidden paths through forests.
