WOLF

Lupus

The Wolf is ancestor of the loyal Dog, yet remains untamed. Wolves hunt in packs, using strategy and cooperation to bring down prey far larger than themselves - thus do the weak become strong through unity. The she-wolf suckled Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome, showing that wildness may nurture civilization. Wolves mate for life and mourn their dead. Their howl in the night speaks of territories claimed and families calling across the darkness. The lone Wolf is either an exile or an explorer, seeking a new pack to join or found. In sheep's clothing, the Wolf represents deception; in its own coat, it represents the wild heart that civilization cannot fully tame.
