OWL

Strix

The Owl is a bird of night, beloved of Athena and feared by the superstitious. Its eyes are great golden orbs that see in darkness what others cannot perceive in daylight. The Owl flies in perfect silence, for its feathers are edged with down that muffles all sound - thus does Wisdom approach without warning. It turns its head full round to look behind, reminding us to consider both past and future. The cry of the Owl at night foretells changes in fortune, though whether good or ill depends upon the listener's conscience.
